I.M.P.A.C.T.
How validated gaps are prioritized: the structure for deciding which gap to address first.
Definition
I.M.P.A.C.T. is how an Executive Architect and the executive team decide which validated gap to address first. It does not diagnose the gap. It structures the prioritization of gaps that the review has already validated.
The six dimensions
| Factor | The question it asks |
|---|---|
| Impact | What is the business consequence? |
| Magnitude of dependency | How materially does the issue depend on critical people? |
| Persistence | How often does the issue recur or return to management attention? |
| Architectural leverage | How much wider benefit could solving it create? |
| Cost of delay | What happens if the gap remains unresolved? |
| Tractability | Can it realistically be bounded, architected, piloted and adopted? |
How to use it
The six dimensions can be assessed qualitatively. A score, where one is used, is a prioritization signal and not an automatic order of intervention. The executive team keeps the final decision.
